Frequently Asked Questions

How hard is it to get my Pilot Certificate?

Learning to fly is easier than you think! We believe that if you can drive a car, you can fly an aircraft.

What is the first step to becoming a Private Pilot?

We recommend starting with a Discovery Flight! The Phoenix Air Flight School offers an introductory lesson that allows you to fly with an FAA Certified Flight Instructor. You will fly for 30 minutes, during which time you will take control of the aircraft and get an idea of what to expect during your training.

The instructor will show you the aircraft’s basic controls, how they work, and some basic flight maneuvers. The Discovery Flight is just $99 and will give you insight into the world of aviation.

What do I need to start?

Starting flight lessons doesn’t require any prerequisite knowledge or action. There are many resources, such as Online Ground Schools and FAA Handbooks, that can help you get a head start; however, they are not necessary to begin training!

When will I need to get a Medical?

Before you can fly an airplane solo, you will need to complete and pass at least an FAA 3rd Class Medical. More information on this process can be found here: How to get an FAA Medical

What makes Phoenix Air different from other flight schools?

The Phoenix Air Flight School has a proven success rate, with over 90% of our students passing their FAA Checkride on the first attempt. Our instructors are full-time professionals with several years of flying experience. Our team has extensive knowledge and experience, and you’ll be mentored by individuals who have dedicated themselves to this passion.

What makes Cartersville’s Airport different from other airports?

Cartersville Airport (KVPC) is an uncontrolled airport, meaning that the field is not controlled by ATC. This reduces the time spent on the ground during training flights, saving students valuable time and money. In addition, we offer a wide variety of operations at KVPC, giving students an immersive experience in aviation with every training flight.
