We are proud to have four IAs (A&P Mechanics with FAA Designated Inspection Authorization privileges) on staff. Steve Pelfrey

General Aviation Manager

Steve Pelfrey is our General Aviation Manager. He is an A&P, I.A., and FAA Designated Mechanic Examiner (DME), qualified to administer FAA airframe and powerplant certification testing. Steve served 13 years in the United States Air Force as an Aerospace Propulsion Master Technician, working in both SAC (Strategic Air Command) and TAC (Tactical Air Command). He has worked on the F-105 Thunderchief (Iron Butterfly) Fighter-Bomber, F-4 Phantom as a member of the “Wild Weasel Squadron,” B-52 Stratofortress Long-Range Bomber in the “Black Knights Squadron,” the KC-135 Stratotanker, and the B-1B Lancer Heavy Bomber.

Throughout his career, Steve has continued his education through the Community College of the Air Force, Victor Valley College, Sweetwater Community College, Atlanta Christian College, and Louisville Bible College.

After separating from the Air Force in 1990 and before joining Phoenix Air in 2015, he continued to build and sharpen his skills by owning and operating his own business, as well as continuing to work in the aviation industry. When it comes to General Aviation Aircraft, Steve brings a wide range of knowledge and experience to the table.

Steve has over 45 years of aviation, business, and military experience, along with a lifetime passion for airplanes and aviation.

Robert Foster, Jr.

Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor

Robert Foster, Jr. leads our team of qualified A&P mechanics in the General Aviation Division, overseeing daily operations and addressing customer concerns regarding their aircraft. A licensed A&P mechanic, Robert graduated from the Aviation Institute of Maintenance in Georgia and has over 12 years of experience in aircraft maintenance.

After completing his education, Robert worked at a local 145 repair station for seven years, where he sharpened his skills and became a lead mechanic. He collaborated closely with his team to ensure that every job was completed to the highest standards.

Since joining Phoenix Air in 2019, Robert has further honed his skills while working alongside his supervisors, eventually earning his role as Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor. No problem is too big or too small for Robert. He is dedicated to providing the best service for our customers.

George Kyle Roberts

Quality Assurance Inspector

General Aviation Maintenance Division

George Kyle Roberts joined the U.S. Army in 1982. In 1986, he transferred to the U.S. Marine Corps, where he was assigned to VMFA-312, F/A-18 Squadron. Kyle later left active duty and served as a reservist, retiring from the military in 2010.

After retiring, he enrolled at Georgia Northwestern Technical College and received his A&P Certificate in 2014. Soon after, he took a position with Safe Tech USA in Atlanta as the Accountable Manager and later worked for DLK Aviation in Kennesaw, Georgia.

In 2022, Kyle earned his IA rating and, in 2023, joined our team at Phoenix Air Group General Aviation as the Quality Assurance Inspector.

Nikki Taylor

Administrative Assistant

Nikki moved to Georgia in 2016, embarking on a new chapter both personally and professionally. Before joining Phoenix Air Group, Nikki had over 20 years of experience as a paralegal in Washington State, where she specialized in personal injury, family law, and mass tort cases.

This extensive background sharpened her attention to detail and strengthened her organizational skills. Nikki is committed to providing the best customer service experience for each client, leveraging her legal expertise to ensure thoroughness and responsiveness. She believes that every interaction is an opportunity to make a positive impact and strives to exceed expectations.

Mitchell Johnson

Avionics Technician/Supervisor

General Aviation Maintenance Division

Mitchell Johnson’s career in aviation began almost 40 years ago with the Georgia Army National Guard, where he worked for 11 years, including 8 years as a full-time civilian employee. During this time, he repaired a wide array of military aircraft, including the OH-6, UH-1, OH-58, and OV-1 Mohawk.

In his general aviation career, Mitchell has worked alongside some of the finest talents in aviation and avionics, with stints at Raytheon Aircraft Services, Hangar One, Inc., Gardner Aviation Services, Air Services, DLK Aviation, and, of course, Phoenix Air Group.

Having undertaken roles as varied as Technician, Inspector, Compliance Specialist, Lead, and even Maintenance Director, Mitchell possesses a comprehensive and diverse body of experience in aviation maintenance and customer service.

Bryan Davis

Parts Associate/Supervisor

Bryan Davis, a Cobb County native and Kennesaw State University graduate with a BA in History, is a new member of the Phoenix Air General Aviation team. His passion for aviation and its history led him to Phoenix Air, where he now combines his interests with his career. While new to the aviation industry, Bryan brings years of experience in law enforcement, which have honed his attention to detail, accountability, and problem-solving skills—qualities he now applies in aviation. Bryan is excited to continue growing in the field and is eager to contribute his unique perspective to the industry.
